Let’s be honest. If you’ve landed on this page, you’re probably here for one of a handful of reasons:

  1. You want to hire me.
  2. You Googled a keyword that’s somewhere on my site and want to know what this random person on the Internet is all about.
  3. You're my friend.
  4. You’re my mom.

But this page is really for people who fall into one of the top two categories. Sorry to disappoint, mom.

So to all the #1s and #2s out there, here’s the scoop:

I’m a thoughtful, results-driven communicator and marketer for technology companies. I've worked with startups from day no. 1 of my career and haven't looked back -- from B2B and B2C companies just putting together their business plans, to emerging market leaders, to those on the road to IPO.

Nothing excites me more than helping companies align their products and stories within the context of their industries, and building strategies around that to engage and enthuse target audiences.

I’m a huge proponent of quality content and pushing companies to “think differently.” The white paper. Is there a better way to communicate the concept? The PR or marketing campaign. Maybe that good old corresponding infographic needs some reinvention. I always try to think a few steps ahead, and push myself and my colleagues to experiment with new tools and communications devices.

Okay, so I realize that’s kind of general and you’re wondering what kind of chops I really have. Fair enough! Here’s what I can do (potentially for you?):

  • Market research and competitive analysis
  • Draft articles on timely industry issues on behalf of executives. Sites you can find my writing on include ReadWriteWeb, Bloomberg BusinessWeek and iMedia Connection
  • On that note, write, write and oh yes, some more writing. From technical press releases to quippy blog posts, I’m versatile and enjoy a good writing challenge. While I’ve done some email marketing, and web and sales copy, I’d love to do more
  • Get companies’ stories in the media and in a way that makes them look good. From product launches, to funding announcements, to survey results, I’ve been there and done that
  • Project manage and/or develop creative content - graphics, presentations, etc.
  • Manage social media presences - from high-level counseling to executing on the nuts and bolts
  • And much more I’m probably forgetting...

If you’d like a deeper perspective of my job experience, please check out my LinkedIn. The CliffNotes are that I started my career in Portland, Ore. at a marketing communications firm working with startups, did my own thing for a while as a marketing and communications consultant, and then spent the last several years in San Francisco at a boutique public relations/social media marketing agency working with some really cool startups as well as some more “mature” tech companies, too.

And finally, an About Page would not be complete without some sort of call to action. Have a question, comment or want to know more about me? Shoot me an email.
